National Care at Home Month 2026

The Home Care Association of Florida (HCAF) joins the National Alliance for Care at Home and fellow state home care and hospice associations in celebrating National Care at Home Month this November.

This year’s theme, Home is Where Care Happens, recognizes the professionals, volunteers, and family caregivers who make care at home possible and the patients, clients, and families whose lives they touch.

Our shared goal is for all people aging or living with serious or acute illness to have access to high-quality, person-centered care wherever they call home. Throughout November, we celebrate the full continuum of home-based services, including home health care, home care, hospice care, palliative care, and Medicaid home and community-based services (HCBS).

HCAF’s toolkit brings together resources, customizable messages, and outreach ideas to help Florida’s home care community recognize caregivers, share stories, educate the public, and engage policymakers.

Get Started

Choose activities that reflect your organization, the people you serve, and your community.

  1. Plan your outreach. Select recognition weeks, assign responsibilities, and schedule posts and activities.
  2. Gather stories. Invite patients, clients, families, staff, and volunteers to share what care at home means to them.
  3. Prepare your materials. Customize the sample messages and templates below with your organization’s information.
  4. Celebrate your team. Recognize the contributions of clinicians, aides, caregivers, administrative staff, and volunteers.
  5. Reach beyond your organization. Connect with local media, community partners, and elected officials.

Before sharing someone’s story, photograph, or video, obtain and document appropriate consent for its intended use.

Campaign Graphics & Resources

Add your logo to the graphics below and customize the social media language to reflect your services and community, and pair your messages with approved photographs, videos, or campaign graphics.

Throughout November, share stories, photographs, graphics, and short videos on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and X. Show what care at home makes possible for patients, clients, families, and caregivers in your community.

Use these campaign hashtags:

Tag HCAF by selecting our official account on each platform so we can see how your organization is celebrating.

Recognize Your Team & Educate Your Community

  • Launch the month with a leadership message. Thank your team, introduce the campaign, and invite staff to contribute stories and recognition ideas.
  • Host a staff gathering. Use a town hall, team meeting, or appreciation event to reconnect employees with the people and purpose behind their work.
  • Share recognition throughout November. Highlight different roles, celebrate volunteers, and acknowledge family caregivers.
  • Offer a community education session. Consider topics such as understanding home care, caregiving, hospice and palliative care, communicating about serious illness, or advance care planning.
  • Connect with community partners. Invite libraries, senior centers, faith communities, and other local organizations to share educational materials or cohost an event.
  • Reach out to local media. Offer a local story, an interview with a care professional, or information about your National Care at Home Month activities.

Help Policymakers Understand Care at Home

A home visit can help policymakers understand how care at home supports their constituents and how policy decisions affect access to services.

Use November to build connections with state legislators, members of Congress, and legislative staff.

  • Identify the right contact. Start with officials who represent the communities you serve.
  • Select an appropriate visit. Work with your care team to identify a patient or family who wants to participate and whose care can accommodate a visit.
  • Obtain consent before inviting guests. Explain who will attend, whether photographs or media are involved, and how any information will be used.
  • Keep the visit focused. Offer a 30-45-minute visit and prepare two or three key messages.
  • Prepare everyone involved. Review introductions, timing, privacy expectations, and each person’s role.
  • Follow up. Send a thank you message and any agreed-upon information after the visit.

Sample Invitation Language:

“November is National Care at Home Month, and we would welcome the opportunity to show you how [Organization Name] helps families in [District/County] receive high-quality [Type of Care] in the place they call home. Would you or a member of your staff be available for a brief, coordinated home visit in the coming weeks?”

Raise Awareness Through Local Media & Proclamations

Use our press release template to announce your organization’s activities and highlight the value of care at home in your community. You can also request a proclamation — an official recognition from your city, county, or state — to raise awareness of National Care at Home Month and honor local providers, professionals, and family caregivers.

How to Copy & Customize Your Template
  1. Open the template. Click the Google Docs template link and sign in to your Google account if prompted.
  2. Make your own copy. Select File → Make a copy, rename the document for your organization, and choose where to save it in Google Drive.
  3. Personalize the content. Replace all bracketed and highlighted placeholders with your organization’s name, contact information, and other requested details. Remove the brackets and highlighting when finished.
  4. Add your branding. Include your logo or letterhead and adjust the formatting as needed.
  5. Review carefully. Confirm names, dates, links, and contact details. For the press release, add approved quotes and your planned activities. For the proclamation, follow the issuing office’s requirements and leave the official signature and seal for that office to complete. Keep the 2023 data references and source attribution intact.
  6. Save or download. Google Docs saves your changes automatically. To download a Word document or PDF, select File → Download and choose your preferred format.
