AHCA Revises EVV Mandate Parameters Ahead of February 1, 2020 Start Date
Friday, January 31, 2020

The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) on Friday, January 31 issued a Florida Medicaid Health Care Alert revising the parameters of the Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) mandate, which goes into effect on February 1, 2020.
You will notice that the implementation date did NOT change — providers must begin utilizing EVV systems February 1, 2020. However, the alert informs providers that AHCA is requiring that the health plans allow providers to continue to submit claims through the plans’ current claims/portal systems in the event that you are experiencing technical difficulties submitting a clean claim through the EVV system. This alert also requires that providers report any and all technical difficulties to both the EVV vendor AND the health plan. Contact information for all of the health plans is included in the alert. This update was done in an effort to ensure that providers do not experience delays in payment. Click here to read the notice that was sent by AHCA to the Medicaid health plans.
HCAF will immediately launch an advocacy initiative to educate the health plans about the realities, complexities, and requirements of the EVV mandate in order to maximize understanding by the plans and provider compliance. Please continue emailing EVV issues to Bobby Lolley at firstname.lastname@example.org and Kyle Simon at email@example.com, and stay tuned for the next EVV Debriefing Teleconference for additional updates.
