U.S. Representative Al Lawson (D-Tallahassee) last week became the fourth member of Florida's congressional delegation to cosponsor the Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act (S.296/H.R.2150). If passed into law, H.R.2150 would allow Medicare payment for home health services ordered by a nurse practitioner, a clinical nurse specialist, a certified nurse-midwife, or a physician assistant. Currently, coverage is provided only for services ordered by a physician.
Congressman Lawson joins U.S. Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Weston), Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D-Miami), and Kathy Castor (D-Tampa) in supporting this critical industry-supported legislation.
HCAF extends its gratitude to Congressman Lawson for his leadership on behalf of the home health care industry and seniors who depend on cost-effective, high-quality health care in the patient-preferred setting: at home.
