The Art of ICD-10-CM Coding for Home Health
Critical Concepts for 2018 & Beyond
A TWO-DAY DIAGNOSTIC CODING WORKSHOP
This highly interactive workshop fosters ICD-10-CM coding confidence and competence by providing participants with opportunities to demonstrate understanding of the course content. Case studies and exercises reinforce participant knowledge as they are asked to apply guidance presented. This self-assessment ensures mastery of the critical concepts needed for coding accuracy. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and participate in class discussions. It is ESSENTIAL that participants bring a current ICD-10-CM Coding Manual to class to fully participate in this learning experience. Accurate code assignment is not possible without a coding manual.
This workshop is most appropriate for intermediate coders who are familiar with the foundational concepts of coding.

ADDITIONAL WORKSHOP DETAILS
Source documents will be provided and reviewed at the workshop. This guidance will allow participants to further their education outside the class and arm them with the tools to research answers to questions that arise in their agencies. Mastering coding skills takes practice and knowing where to find guidance ensures coding accuracy and regulatory compliance.
This class is designed with intermediate coders in mind. We recommend a review of the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting for 2018, pages 8 – 18 of the document, found at: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/icd/10cmguidelines_fy2018_final.pdf prior to the workshop. These pages describe and define the Coding Conventions (Section I.A) & General Coding Guidelines (Section I.B). It is expected that intermediate coders already possess this foundational knowledge as it will not be the focus of this class. Your pre-class efforts will greatly enhance your learning experience.
If needed, a current ICD-10-CM coding manual may be purchased from OASISAnswers.com or by calling 425 868-2304.
